Aussies Select 43-Strong Swim Team for World Champs

BRISBANE, Australia, December 10. FOLLOWING the completion of the final night of competition at the Australian National Championships, Swimming Australia announced a team of 43 swimmers (22 men & 21 women) to compete at the 2007 FINA World Championships in Melbourne next March. The team and coaches are:

Notable by their omission from the strong women's side were dual dorsal Commonwealth Games gold medalist Sophie Edington – the National record-holder in both events, Jade Edmistone – the 50 breaststroke world champ and world record-holder and Olympic gold medalist and Aussie 50 freestyle record-holder Alice Mills. Edington is also part of the world-record Aussie medley relay team set earlier this year in Melbourne while Mills missed her first national team since her arrival on the scene as a 15-year-old finishing third just .01 outside selection in the 50 free.
