UMass Adds Three Signees

AMHERST, Massachusetts, November 29. KAITIE English (Oakhurst, N.J.), Annie Fogerty (Allentown, Pa.) and Jessica Starosielec (Colonia, N.J.) have signed National Letters of Intent to join the University of Massachusetts women's swimming and diving team announced head coach Bob Newcomb. English and Starosielec compete in the sprint free/butterfly and breaststroke, respectively, while Fogerty will be an outstanding addition to the diving team.

"We are very excited about this trio of outstanding young women who will be joining our program next year," said Newcomb who is in his 23rd season at UMass. "These three will have immediate impacts on the program next season and I am very happy that they were enthusiastic enough about our program to sign early."

English attends Ocean Township High School and also competes for the Central Jersey Aquatic Club. She is a sprint freestyler and butterflyer who was a U.S. Swimming Sectional Qualifier.

"Kaitie is a great addition to our team with our returning sprinters next season," said Newcomb. "Coming from the Central Jersey Aquatic Club, she has a very strong background. Academically, she is an excellent student-athlete and plans to major in nutrition."

Fogerty attends Allentown High School and will join a strong diving program that will lose the services of senior divers Mary Jenkins and Melissa Pond. Starosielec attends Bishop George Ahr High School and also competes for the Jersey Gators Aquatic Club. She is a Junior National Qualifier and a Sectional Finalist in the breaststroke.

"We are excited about having Jessica join us next season," said Newcomb. "She brings a strong swimming background and will be an excellent addition to our team adding to the strength of our individual medley group. Academically, she is a superb student-athlete who has been accepted into the Commonwealth College here at UMass where she will major in mathematics."
