Franklin & Marshall Sweeps McDaniel

LANCASTER, Pennsylvania, November 17. VAL Perfanov and Derek Nowak each won two races to lead Franklin & Marshall to a 108-82 win over McDaniel in Centennial Conference (CC) men's swimming action Friday night. The win improved Franklin & Marshall's record to 2-3 (2-1 CC), while McDaniel fell to 2-3 (1-3 CC).

Perfanov managed a 1.13 second edge over teammate Matt Jaffee in the 50 free. Perfanov registered a 22.57 for the victory. He won the 100 free with a time of 49.77, touching the wall less than two seconds before McDaniel's Chris Reed.

Nowak won the 200 free posting a time of 1:49.95, giving him a nearly five second margin over McDaniel's Mark Yankovich. His 2:06.80 in the 200 backstroke was nearly nine seconds better than teammate, Tim Falkner.

Meanwhile, in the women's meet, Jennie Payne won her two individual events and swam a leg on a winning relay team as Franklin & Marshall handed McDaniel a 122-63 loss. The win improved F&M's record to 4-2 (3-2 CC), while McDaniel slid to 1-4 (0-4 CC).

Payne took the 50 and 500 freestyle races in impressive fashion. She beat the field by 11 seconds in the 500 free (5:26.13), and edged out teammate Karrah Hurd in the 50 free (26.28) by 1.12 seconds. Payne also contributed a leg on the winning 400-medley relay team.
