By Jason Marsteller

PHOENIX, Arizona, November 14. THIS weekend, SwimmingWorldMagazine.com puts the spotlight on a pair of college meets. We will feature the Delta State at Ouachita Baptist Division II battle, and the inter-division match-up between Williams College and Army.

Here is a quick preview of the Delta State/Ouachita Baptist match-up:

Date and Time: Saturday, November 18, 2006 – 1 p.m.
Location: Arkadelphia, Ark.
Facility: Waggoner Pool

Delta State's Last Time Out:
The Delta State University men's and women's swimming and diving teams defeated Rhodes College in a dual meet on Nov. 11 at the Delta State University Aquatics Center.

The Lady Statesmen defeated the Lady Lynx by a final score of 124-74. DSU won four events with the help of junior Jennifer Artichuk. The Ottawa, Ontario native took first in the 200-IM and helped anchor the Lady Statesmen to a first place finish in the 200-Medley.

The Statesmen crushed the Lynx, 118-39. Trohn Trabona and Fernando Reis helped lead the Statesmen to victory as Trabona took first in both the 50 free and the 100 fly. Reis also chipped in with a couple first place finishes, taking first in both the 200 IM and leading his team in the 200 freestyle relay.

Looking forward with Delta State's head coach Brian Hein:
We are very excited about this week's meet. OBU is one of the top programs in our league and it will take a solid effort by our teams to pull off the victory. We are competing very well right now and I believe our early season schedule has prepared us for conference.

Ouachita Baptist's Last Time Out:
The Ouachita women's swimming and diving team won the Henderson State Invitational on Nov. 10 by closing out the meet with a strong final day. The Lady TigerSharks won the women's meet behind another strong performance by the Watson sisters. Sarah Watson earned her third NCAA A qualifying time of the season, this time in the 200 backstroke (2:05.77). Rachel Watson broke the school record with an NCAA B cut in the 200 breaststroke (2:24.19). The Lady TigerSharks cruised to the victory with 400 points, defeating Henderson State (321), Texas-Permian Basin (286), Hendrix College (239), and John Brown (227).

The Ouachita men didn't win their meet, but the TigerSharks finished second to host Henderson State by only 10 points. Ouachita's Radu Badalac posted his first NCAA A cut in winning the 200 backstroke (1:50.60).

Looking forward with Ouachita Baptist head coach Jim Dann:
Delta State is a very strong team. They have strong individuals on both the men's and women's sides. Fernando Reis really worries me for the men's meet, as well as Roman Sereda, who can swim about anything. On the women's side, Jennifer Artichuk and a couple of freshmen, Amanda Guidry and Hannah Willis, will give us a lot of trouble. We are going to have to be up mentally, and we cannot make any mistakes.
