Ohio Sweeps Denison

ATHENS, Ohio, November 11. THE Ohio men's and women's swimming and diving teams remain undefeated at home with a win over Denison on Saturday. The men won 153-88 and the women won 146-86.

The men are 2-1 and 0-1 in the MAC. The women are on a five-meet winning streak and are 5-1 overall and 3-1 in the MAC.

Both the men and women won the 400 medley relay. For the men, Stephen D'Arrigno (Tucson, Ariz.), Brandon Stakleff (Akron, Ohio), Bobby Pampush (Rocky River, Ohio) and James Carey (Cincinnati, Ohio) combined for a 3:33.22 finish. For the women, Emily Wylam (Yorktown, Va.), Karen Liddy (Piqua, Ohio), Lindsey DeStefano (Wildwood, Mo.) and Ilse Petersen (Johannesburg, S.A.) combining team up for a 3:58.72 finish.

Courtney Gallo (Lake Worth, Fla.) won her second 1000 freestyle event on the season with a time of 10:31.55. Luke Herlehy (Batavia, Ill.) won the same event on the men's side in 9:44.38. It is the second straight time that Herlehy has won the event.

The Ohio women took the first three spots in the 200 freestyle. Carine Souza (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) placed in first with a time of 1:53.95. Wylam took second at 1:56.69 and Rachel Kloosterman (Whitby, Ontario) followed in third at 1:57.61.

Chelsey Bower (Bethel Park, Pa.) won the 50 freestyle in 24.61 and Andrew Belton (San Antonio, Texas) won the same event for the men with a time of 21.79.

Michaela Hahn-Lawson (Painesville, Ohio) and Tom Farrago (West Chester, Pa.) won the 200 individual medley with times of 2:12.49 and 1:58.99, respectively.

Lindsay Hamilton (White City, Saskatchewan) and Cameron Hansbarger (Fort Wayne, Ind.) took first place in the 1-meter diving event. Hamilton finished at 264.30 and Hansbarger at 254.32.

Tyler Post (Coldwater, Ohio) took first place in the 200 butterfly with a time of 1:58.31, the best time of any Bobcat this season in this event. Post's career best in the 200 butterfly is 1:56.89.

For the women, Petersen won the 100 free in 53.33 and Cy Moser (Parkersburg, Pa.) won the event for the men in 47.71. Ashley Marion (London, Ontario) won the 200 backstroke with a time of 2:10.26. Other first place finishes for Ohio included Caitlin Drozin (Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio) in the 500 freestyle (5:10.74) and Hamilton in the 3-meter dive (300.30).

On the men's side, Herlehy won the 500 free (4:44.20) and Hansbarger won the 3-meter dive (294.52).
