Wayne State Edges Indy, 124-113

INDIANAPOLIS, Indiana, November 11. THE Wayne State women's swimming and diving team earned a 124-113 dual meet victory at Indianapolis on Saturday afternoon.

The 400 medley relay combination of Katie Harrigan (Portage, Mich./Northern), Haintso Rakouth (Saginaw, Mich./Heritage), Elaina Hogle (Kentwood, Mich./East Kentwood), and Julie Danaher (Allen Park, Mich.) got things started for the Warriors with a second-place time of 4:03.08.

In the 1650 freestyle, freshman Ashley St. Andrew (Grand Rapids, Mich./Jenison) earned an NCAA "B" cut with her first-place time of 17:34.97. Melissa Duff (Howell, Mich./Brighton) took third in the event (18:18.95).

Wayne State went 2-3-4 in the 200 free thanks to nice swims from St. Andrew (1:57.86), Mandy Burton (Ypsilanti, Mich./Lincoln) (2:00.83), and Maggie Young (Tecumseh, Ont./St. Anne's) (2:01.78).

Hogle (2:09.86) and Harrigan (2:15.04) took first and third, respectively, in the 200 IM, and in the 100 fly Hogle finished in second (1:0.02) with Laura Leix (Flint, Mich./Southwestern) just .18 seconds behind in third (1:00.20).

Danaher placed third in the 100 free (54.82), and Harrigan swam to a second-place finish in the 100 back (1:00.79).

The Warriors took three of the top four spots in the 500 free, with St. Andrew winning in a time of 5:10.61, Duff placing second (5:19.31), and Tiffanie Laforet (Tecumseh, Ont./St. Anne's) coming in fourth (5:33.39).

Amber Staudacher (Rockford, Mich.) won the 100 breaststroke (1:08.83), and Jodi Scott (Windsor, Ont./Riverside S.S.) finished in second place (1:09.87).
