Georgia Signs Ditto, Dylla

ATHENS, Georgia, November 9. KELSEY Ditto and Mark Dylla have signed National Letters of Intent to compete for Georgia, according to an announcement made Thursday by head coach Jack Bauerle.

Ditto is a native of Austin, Texas, and is a member of Longhorn Aquatics coached by Randy Reese. She is currently ranked 12th in the world in the 1500 freestyle and 13th in the 800 free. Ditto represented the United States at the 2006 Pan Pacific Championships and also was a member of the 2005 World Championship Team roster. Ditto ranks second academically in her Westlake High School class.

"We couldn¹t be more thrilled about having one of the best young swimmers in the country coming to Georgia," Bauerle said. "Not only is Kelsey one of the best swimmers, but she's also a great student. With her international experience, she already is acclimated to world-class swimming, and she's going to be a force to be reckoned with on the NCAA level. She's a terrific kid with a great family, and I¹m looking forward to coaching her. Kelsey has been swimming for one of the greatest coaches in American swimming in Randy Reese, so she's well prepared for the international and NCAA levels."

A native of Littleton, Colo., and a student at Heritage High School, Dylla served as the captain of the 2006 National Junior Team. He won National Junior titles in the 400-meter individual medley in 2006 and the 100 butterfly in 2005. Dylla also has won national high school crowns in the 500 freestyle and the 100 butterfly, has earned 17 High School All-America honors, has won six Colorado state titles and holds 41 state records. He has qualified for the 2008 Olympic Trials in four events and has eight Senior National qualifying times. Dylla is a member of the Aces Swim Club under the direction of Coach Eric Craven.

"We are very excited about having Mark join us," Bauerle said. "He has a terrific attitude toward the sport. He is extremely versatile, and I think he can have a gigantic impact on our team next fall. I think he will be the consummate team swimmer."
