Seattle Downs Alaska-Fairbanks, 155-48

BOTHELL, Washington, November 3. SENIORS Lindsey Gall (Chehalis, Wash.) and Kristie Rice (Des Moines, Wash.) and freshman Elizabeth Hanohano (Honolulu, Hawaii) each won two individual events to lead the Seattle University women's swim team to a 155-48 victory over Alaska-Fairbanks Friday night at the Northshore Pool.

Hanohano earned first place in the 200 freestyle (1:59.99) and the 100 freestyle (55.71), while Gall touched the wall first in the 50 freestyle (25.59) and the 100 butterfly (59.13). Rice earned a convincing victory in the 200 individual medley (2:14.59), then came back to win the 100 breaststroke (1:09.63).

After a third place finish in the 1000 freestyle (11:07.58), Christina Hunsberger (Bellevue, Wash.) won the 500 freestyle in a time of 5:15.34. Francesca Reale (Gig Harbor, Wash.) won the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:01.82 and led off the victorious 200 freestyle relay team, which also included Hunsberger, Megan Lavin (Kalispell, Mont.), and Sarah Shannon (Issaquah, Wash.).

The only NCAA "B" qualifying time was earned by Nanook swimmer Kelly Becker, who won the 1000 freestyle in a time of 10:41.16. Becker came back to finish second in the 100 butterfly, finishing just 36/100ths of a second behind Gall.

Because of mechanical problems with the competition pool at the Connolly Center, the meet was moved to Bothell. The two teams will turn right around and face off again Saturday, Nov. 4, at 9 a.m. at the Northshore Pool.
