No. 12 UCLA Roughs Up San Diego, 174-84

SAN DIEGO, California, October 20. CYNDI Gallagher and the No. 12 UCLA Bruins improved to 3-0 (1-0 Pac-10) on Friday after defeating the University of San Diego 174-84 in dual meet action. The Bruins posted 10 individual victories, one meet record and won both relays en route to their third victory of the season.

UCLA started the meet off with a win in the 200 Medley Relay, winning in a time of 1:46.77, and ended the meet with a win in the 200 Free Relay in a time of 1:38.24.

Four Bruins posted double event victories on Friday – sophomore Anna Poteete (100/200 Back); junior Chiemi Yamamoto (200 IM/200 Free); senior Jane Imagane (500/100 Free); and senior Amy Thurman (50/100 Free).

Senior Jeana Fuccillo posted a win in the 100 Breast, while fellow senior Isabel Miesner won the 200 Fly. Junior Nicolette Teo won the 200 Breast, setting a new meet record.

"This was a good meet and a good break from our regular friday routine," said Gallagher. "It's a mellow meet, but the girls were enthusiastic about competing and had fun with it. We couldn't have asked for a better meet setting."
