Notre Dame Dominates Dennis Stark Relays

SOUTH BEND, Indiana, October 6. THE Notre Dame swimming and diving teams rolled through the rest of the competition at the 2006 Dennis Stark Relays. Both the men’s and women’s squads eclipsed the 200-point plateau in team scoring to dominate the event.

At one point during the evening, the Irish captured seven straight events en route to the dominating victory. The marks eclipsed by the Fighting Irish on the night were in the 200-yard freestyle relay (1:25.46), 400-yard butterfly relay (3:23.76), 400-yard backstroke relay (3:28.36), the 400-yard freestyle relay (3:07.01) and in synchronized diving (244.20).

The Dennis Stark Relays (formerly known as the Notre Dame Relays) were competed for the 42nd time for the men and 23rd time for the women on Friday night. Comprised of 11 swimming events and two diving events, it provides the competing teams with a competitive and unique start to their seasons. The Irish have won the title 22 times, including 10 in the last 11 years.
