Mexican Swimmer Appeals Ban  -- November 6, 1996

From Reuter's News Service - Mexican synchronized swimmer, Perla Ramierez, has filed an appeal with FINA, against her two-year suspension for the use of a banned diuretic. Ramierez was banned by the Mexican Swimming Federation two weeks ago after she tested positive at the French Open in March. Ramierez was a member of the Mexican team at the Atlanta Olympics but did not compete when officials became concerned her participation might have sparked protests.
