Men Return to Forefront in Houston Speedo Champions Series Sectional

HOUSTON, Texas, July 27. THE men returned fire during the second day of competition at the Houston Speedo Champions Series Sectional as they took center stage on Thursday after the women owned the limelight in the first day of action.

The trio of Ryan Latone, Shane Milu and J.J. Helms rolled to national cut times in the 200-meter freestyle. Latone captured the crown in 1:53.25, with Milu just behind in 1:53.92. Meanwhile, Helms rounded out the podium with a 1:54.03.

In the 400-meter IM, The Woodlands’ Ryan Leneave raced to a U.S. Open cut of 4:35.89 to pick up the gold. In the women’s side of the IM, Mustang Spindrift Beck pocketed the title in 4:58.96. Additionally, Beth McCullough snared first in the 200 free with a 2:04.84.

The meet continues on Friday with the 100 backstroke, 200 breaststroke, 100 butterfly and 400 freestyle.
