Jendrick Picks Up Another Win at Speedo Western Sectionals

FEDERAL WAY, Washington, July 21. TWO nights after securing an impressive win in the 200 breaststroke, Megan Jendrick roared to victory in the 100 breast while competing at the Speedo Western Sectionals at the Weyerhauser King County Aquatic Center on Friday night. The 2000 Olympic champ in the 100 breast, Jendrick produced a stellar time of 1:07.47, good for a three-plus second triumph over Jessica Embick.

Jendrick has proven that her preparation is going smoothly and she figures to be in the hunt for a berth to the Pan Pacific Championships in her signature event. Jendrick will tangle with Jessica Hardy and Tara Kirk at the United States Nationals, and it's likely that a sub-1:07 performance will be required to land a spot on the Team USA roster.

Ariana Kukors, Jendrick's teammate with King County Aquatics, was the winner of the 100 backstroke, thanks to a mark of 1:03.06. Kukors was the winner of the 400 individual medley on Thursday night. Another notable victory was registered by Scott Usher, a 2004 Olympian. Better known for his ability in the 200 breast, Usher won the 100 distance in 1:02.33. Meanwhile, Scott Rice won the 100 fly in 54.87.
