World Cup Back in FINA Hands -- October 15, 1996

From Reuter's New Service: FINA said it has reclaimed control of the swimming World Cup. The series of short-course competitions had been run by national federations. FINA recently told the federations they would not let the series continue using the name World Cup without FINA's involvement. "The competition has taken on much greater importance recently and the level keeps getting higher. From now on the World Cup will be run under FINA rules and its control," said FINA director Cornel Marculescu.
