Panthers Add Two to Roster

PITTSBURGH, Penn. May 16. HEAD Swimming and Diving coach Chuck Knoles announced the signing of two athletes to National Letters-of-Intent for the 2006-07 season. Both Margo Ekstrom and Agnes Mago join the women’s swimming and diving team.

“Both of these young ladies add tremendous depth to the six athletes we signed in the fall,” Knoles said. “We have no doubt that all of these women will help us reach our goal of returning to the top of the conference standings, and to the 2007 NCAA Championships.”

Ekstrom is a standout diver who hails from Erie, Pa. where she attended Erie McDowell High School. As the 2006 Pennsylvania state champion in diving, she brings an impressive background to the Panthers.

“Margo is excellent on the 1-meter board and under Assistant Head Coach for Diving Julian Krug, we have no doubt she will excel on the 3-meter board as well,” Knoles said.

Mago, a specialist in many events, is from Kecskemet, Hungary and will transfer to Pitt from Radford University. She is nationally ranked in Hungary and joins the Panthers following a successful freshman season. Mago won three Northeast Conference Championships, set two conference meet records and won Rookie of the Meet honors. Mago also set several Radford school records along the way.

“Agnes is an outstanding competitor in numerous events,” Knoles stated. “We look forward to her coming in and facing the challenges of being a Panther not only at the conference level, but at the NCAA Championships as well.”
