Industry News: 2004 Olympian Kristen Caverly Inks Long Term Deal with TYR Sport -- May 10, 2006
|HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif., May 10. TYR Sport Inc, the leader in performance swimwear, is proud to announce signing a multi-year partnership with 2004 Olympian and model, Kristen Caverly.
Representing the United States at the 2004 Athens Olympic Games, Caverly challenged the world’s best in the 200m Backstroke. She held a spot on the 2005 US World Championships Team and she earned a silver medal at the 2004 Pan American Games.
Caverly concluded her four-year collegiate swimming career as a Stanford Cardinal at the 2006 NCAA Championships. She beat out competitors with a strong third-place finish in the 400-yard IM.
Steve Furniss, TYR executive vice president comments on the relationship: “Kristen will be a great addition to our TYR community of athletes. We look forward to supporting her as she trains for her second Olympic Games.”
“My focus has always been on achieving the pinnacle in the sport of swimming. Attending Stanford, becoming an Olympian and now representing TYR are all aspects of this journey which I value greatly. When I considered apparel companies, the most important factors for me was the ability of a company to focus on me as an individual and not just being one of many swimmers in their pack. TYR has shown me an individual approach to athlete endorsements that was unique. The decision was easy,” said Caverly.
Caverly will compete in TYR’s elite Aqua Shift swimwear technology. She will test new fabrics and technology that will assist TYR in maintaining their position as one of the dominant developers of revolutionary swimsuits in the world. Aqua Shift provides a significant reduction in wave and pressure drag through the theoretical and practical application of Tripwires. Aqua Shift was researched and developed by field’s finest professors at the University of Buffalo’s Center for Research and Education in Special Environments (CRESE).
TYR’s heritage encompasses the best swimmers of all times. Four-time Olympic gold medalist Yana Klochkova, two-time Olympic silver medalist Martina Moravcova, two-time Olympic silver medalist Erik Vendt, 1976 Olympic Swimming Team captain Steve Furniss and 1972 Olympic silver medalist Hans Fassnacht are among TYR’s prestigious community.
TYR (pronounced tier). Named after the mythical Norse god of warriors and deity among all athletes, the TYR brand embodies the competitive spirit of sports and is a symbol of courage and victory. Co-founded in 1985 by Olympic medalist Steve Furniss, TYR has passionately dedicated itself to redefining the next generation of performance and recreational swimwear and accessories, while continuing to be the model of leading edge innovation and style.
