Auburn Earns More SEC Year-End Awards

BIRMINGHAM, Alabama, April 12. AUBURN'S Corey Gerlach and David Marsh each earned postseason awards from the Southeastern Conference as voted on by the league's head coaches. Gerlach was named the Freshman Women's Diver of the Year while Marsh was named the Men's Swimming Coach of the Year.

Gerlach, a native of Upper Arlington, Ohio, became the first freshman female diver in Auburn history to ever qualify for an NCAA Championships. The newcomer went on to earn a medal at the national championships as she finished third on the 3-meter board. Her six-dive score of 365.65 was also a new Auburn record, which she previously held. Over the course of the regular season, Gerlach won five individual titles.

"This is a huge honor," Gerlach said. "It is a compliment to me to receive this award especially since other coaches in our conference were the ones who voted the winners. This has been an exciting first year for me and I look forward to three more awesome seasons."

Marsh was named the Men's Swimming Coach of the Year after he guided his team to its 10th consecutive SEC title and its fourth straight NCAA title. It also marked the men's team's sixth national title since Marsh became head coach in 1990 and his 10th overall NCAA title (men and women combined). Marsh has now been named the SEC Men's Swimming Coach of the Year 10 times and has won it in each of the last four years.
