Westminster Swimmers Zac Gebhardt, Britt Thomas Sweep PAC Swimmer of the Week Honors

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. January, 25. A pair of Westminster College swimming standouts have been honored as Swimmers of the Week by the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) for the week ending January 23, 2006.

Freshman distance freestyle specialist Zac Gebhardt (Monroeville/Gateway H.S.) was named PAC Men's Swimmer of the Week. Gebhardt, in just his second meet for Westminster since transferring from Division I West Virginia over the holiday break, captured both the 500 freestyle (4:55.73) and 1000 freestyle (10:10.92) events as Westminster closed the season unbeaten in PAC dual action with a 112.5-92.5 home win over Grove City Tuesday.

Junior distance freestyle specialist Britt Thomas (Bethel Park/Bethel Park H.S.)was tabbed PAC Women's Swimmer of the Week. Thomas touched first in both the 500 freestyle (5:27.57) and 1000 freestyle (11:01.70) events as the Westminster women also concluded their PAC schedule with a perfect 3-0 mark after defeating Grove City 110-92 Tuesday in New Wilmington.

Both the Westminster men's (8-1-1) and women's (8-2) swimming teams conclude their 2005-06 dual meet schedules this Saturday (Jan. 28) with a home Senior Day matchup against non-league foe Carnegie Mellon University at the Natatorium at 1 p.m.
