FSU Women Remain Undefeated in the ACC Topping Miami

TALLAHASSEE, Florida. January 14. THE No. 17 Florida State women's swimming and diving team remained undefeated in the Atlantic Coast Conference as they beat Miami 146-95. The Seminoles moved their record to 9-1 overall and 5-0 in the conference.

The Seminoles got off to a fast start as the 200 medley relay team of freshman Abbie King (Brunswick, Maine), sophomore Lauren Sparg (Durban, South Africa) and juniors Romy Altmann (Cape Town, South Africa) and Lauren Brick (Culpeper, Va.) took first place in 1:44.69.

Sophomore Kate Skaggs (Jacksonville, Fla.) then picked up another win for Florida State as she finished the 200 free in 1:56.10. King followed Skaggs with a win of her own as she took the 50 free in 24.03.

Freshman Ann Cipoletti (Charleston, W.V.) continued FSU winning way as she took first in the 400 IM with a time of 4:27.57. Sparg finished the 100 fly in first touching the wall with a time of 56.51. A pair of sophomores picked up two more wins back-to-back for Florida State as Stacey Rademacher (Charlotte, N.C.) took the 100 back in 58.42 and Elise Hatfield (Merritt Island, Fla.) took the 500 free in 4:58.08. Brick capped off the individual swimming events with a win for Florida State in the 100 breast with a time of 1:03.12.

FSU's top diving performance came from junior Brittany Lerew (Orlando, Fla.) took first place on the 3M with 298.80 points.

The Florida State 400 free relay team of Altmann, sophomore Lindsey Kenney (Plano, Texas) and freshmen Caroline Robertson (Ocala, Fla.) and Cameron Russell (Alcoa, Tenn.) closed out the meet for FSU recording the event's fastest time of 3:36.63 swimming it as an exhibition.

There were 253 people in attendance for the meet.

The Florida State men?s and women?s swimming and diving teams will be back in for their final home meet of the season when they take on Florida Atlantic, Florida A&M and Indian River C.C. on Saturday, January 21 at 10:00 a.m. at the Bobby E. Leach Center.
