BATON ROUGE, Lousiana, January 12. RYAN Lochte, a triple-event medalist at last summer’s World Championships in Montreal, won the 100 breast and claimed victory in the 400 individual medley during an exhibition swim as the University of Florida toppled Louisiana State Thursday night, 166-116, in Southeastern Conference action.

Darian Townsend won the 100 back for the Gators in 50.28 and also prevailed in the 50 free with a clocking of 20.67. He was joined as a victor by Lucas Salatta, who turned in a mark of 1:45.22 during a triumph in the 200 backstroke. Salatta also won the 200 free (1:39.73).

In women’s action, Florida collected a 158-140 decision, thanks in part to the first-place performances of Ashley Carusone. After winning the 200 free in 1:50.97, Carusone secured top honors in the 200 fly with a time of 1:59.67. Samantha Vanderbilt won the 100 back in 56.11.

For Louisiana State, Katherine Noland defeated the competition in the 100 freestyle with an effort of 51.20 and Berit Aljand took first in the 200 back when she touched the wall in 2:01.44.
