Arizona State Women Topple Oregon State; Purdue Edges ASU in Men's Meet -- January 9, 2006

Arizona State 158, Oregon State 47 (Women)
Purdue 182, Arizona State 165 (Men)

TEMPE, Arizona, January 9. CAITLIN Andrew stormed to victories in the 100 backstroke and 100 butterfly, clocking respective times of 56.36 and 55.27 to lead the Arizona State women past Oregon State in a PAC-10 Conference clash. The Sun Devils, who won every event, were also carried by Amy Konowalik, who doubled in the 200 breaststroke (2:17.75) and the 400 individual medley (4:29.54).

In the men’s meet, Purdue earned a nonconference triumph behind a first-place finish from Giordan Pogioli in the 200 breaststroke (2:01.05). Joe Colley supplied a victory in the 100 backstroke (50.54) and Chris Etherington was the winner of the 100 fly with a swim of 48.80.

The Sun Devils, in a losing cause, were paced by Sean Boyle’s first-place outing in the 200 freestyle and C.J. Nuess’ field-defeating performance in the 400 individual medley (3:54.30).
