Copland Leads Cougars At FIU Invitational

MIAMI, Florida, January 3. WASHINGTON State senior Jane Copland picked up two wins as the Cougars downed Florida International, 444-339, at the nine-event dual meet FIU Invitational Saturday at the Bay Vista Aquatics Center.

Copland earned the top spot in both the 200 individual medley (2:11.54) and the 200 breaststroke (2:20.26) as the Cougars faced off against the Golden Panthers as part of their 10-day winter training camp at the FIU campus.

Erin McCleave finished first in the 200 freestyle (1:56.53) while Afton Pickett swam to victory in the 200 backstroke (2:09.70) to round out Washington State's individual winners. The Cougars won six of seven swimming events including first place finishes in the 400 medley relay (4:01.45) and 400 freestyle relay (3:41.41).
