Suspension Of Tracy Bonner Is Over

Diver Tracy Bonner, 26, one of the USA’s top Olympic contenders, received official notification Monday that her suspension from competition is over. In August, Bonner was suspended for a year by FINA after she tested positive for the stimulant dextroamphetamine. The drug is contained in a prescription Bonner takes for narcolepsy, a disorder of the brain and nervous system that causes overwhelming bouts of sleepiness and sometimes near-paralyzing bouts of muscle weakness called cataplexy. Stimulants are considered performance-enhancing and are banned by the Olympics and Olympic sports federations.
