Specht Sets 400m Freestyle World Record -- October 15, 1999

In case there should be any thoughts of Bill Specht's early retirement from recording breaking, he broke the world record for the 400m freestyle (short-course) for men 40-44 at a Masters meet in Orlando last weekend, reports his coach, George Bole.

His time, 4:09.10, just edged Hess Yntema's listed world and American mark of 4:09.86.
