NCAA Men's Water Polo: USC's Basso Awarded MPSF Player of the Week -- October 13, 1999

For the second-time this season, USC senior driver Allen Basso has earned MPSF Player of the Week honors in men's water polo. Basso nailed a two-pointer with 33 seconds left in the second overtime to give the Trojans a come-from behind, 12-10, overtime victory over No. 2 Stanford. Basso's last-minute heroics propelled USC into the NorCal championship match, where they again came from behind in the last minute to gain the 8-7 win over No. 1 UCLA and the championship. Basso, the Trojan's leading scorer on the season, contributed 12 points over the weekend.
