NCAA Men's Water Polo: Stanford Defeats California, 8-7 -- October 5, 1999

BERKELEY, CA - Todd Snider scored a two-point goal with 1:49 left to give Stanford an 8-7 victory over the California Golden Bears in a MPSF game on Saturday.

Cal had taken a 7-6 lead on a penalty shot by Eldad Hazor with 5:37 to play. Cal led 2-0, but the Cardinal came back to tie the game at 2-2 after one period. Cal took a 4-3 lead at halftime, but third period goals by Peter Hudnut and Peter Osborn gave the Cardinal a 5-4 lead. Goals from Cal's Andrew Stoddard and Joe Kaiser gave the Bears a 6-5 edge until Mark Amott got a put-back goal to even the score at 6-6 entering the final period.

Stanford will host the NorCal Tournament, featuring the nation's top teams, this weekend at deGuerre Pool.
