Revolution Emerges as Dominant Team at Speedo Top-40 Water Polo Tournament

LOS ALAMITOS, California, November 7. THE Revolution squad, led by four goals from Moriah Van Norman, captured top honors over the weekend at the Speedo Top-40 Water Polo Tournament, held at the USA Water Polo National Training Center in Los Alamitos, California. The event featured the premier female players in the nation in a four-team affair.

In the championship game, Revolution earned an 8-7 triumph over Spectrum. Erika Figge, Addison Doud, Anna Gonzales and Jessica Steffens also scored for the tourney champs, with Figge earning MVP accolades. Jamie Hipp was credited with six saves. Spectrum received a strong showing in goal from Emily Feher, who set a tournament record with 48 saves over the weekend.

In the third-place matchup, Matrix collected a 12-9 win over Splash as Kami Craig, Elsie Windes, Kelsey Holshouser and Tanya Gandy scored three goals each. Sara Van Norman had a pair of goals in a losing cause.

"Everyone was really focused," said Guy Baker, the National Women’s Team Coach. "I feel really good about our younger group. We are going to have another strong junior team at the World Championships in 2007."
