Boyd Elevated to Associate Head Coach at Texas A&M

COLLEGE STATION, Texas, November 4. DOUG Boyd, in his second season as an assistant coach at Texas A&M, has been promoted to Associate Head Coach by Jay Holmes, the head man with the Aggies. Boyd joined the A&M program shortly after Holmes was named head coach in 2004.

“Promoting Doug to Associate Head Coach shows Texas A&M’s commitment to its swimming and diving program,” Holmes said. “Associate head coach is really more indicative of the job that Doug does on a daily basis here. He plays an integral role in our success and we wanted to make sure that he was a valuable member of our staff for many years to come.”

Boyd helped the Aggies finish second at the Big 12 Conference Championships last year and 15th at the NCAA Championships. He served as the women’s sprinting coach at Michigan from 2002-04 and was the head coach at Rice University from 1998-2002. Boyd also served a stint as head coach UC-San Diego from 1990-98 and was named NCAA Division III Coach of the Year in 1998.
