Virginia Tech Welcomes Return of Two Brazilian Standouts

BLACKSBURG, Virginia, September 30. AS Virginia Tech prepares for a meet this weekend with Clemson, a pair of Brazilian standouts are expected to bolster the lineup. In early September, sophomore Talita Ribeiro and junior Gustavo Calado participated in the Brazilian Short Course Championships.

Ribeiro enjoyed a sterling meet as she stroked to a gold-medal performance in the 200-meter backstroke and added silver-medal efforts in the 50 and 100 distances of the backstroke. Calado contested the 200 free early in the meet but was forced to withdraw due to injury.

"It was great to be able to come back home for this meet and swim fast. I look forward to carrying the momentum over to the college season," Ribeiro said.
