Chelsie Miller, Cory Loria Win Distance Titles On Night One Of Shenandoah Sectionals

SHENANDOAH, Texas, July 22. CHELSIE Miller and Cory Loria brought home the first two titles of the meet in the women’s and men’s 800 freestyle tonight during the opening session of the Speedo Champions Series sectional meet in Shenandoah.

Miller, who trains with Cypress Fairbanks Swim Club, dropped 15 seconds from her seed time to take the win in the women’s final in 8:47.10. Kimberly Phillips of Longhorn Aquatics had a massive time drop as well, taking 12 seconds off her personal best to take second in 8:54.02. Peyton Quattlebaum of First Colony Swim Team sliced seven seconds off her seed time to finish third in 8:57.37.

The men’s 800 free title went to Longhorn Aquatics’ Cory Loria in 8:27.56, a best time by almost 10 seconds. Alamo Area Aquatic Association’s Nathan Coppock dropped 17 seconds to finish second in 8:32.11, while William Karau of the North Texas Nadadores rounded out the top three in 8:32.15.
