FINIS CHALLENGES FINA RULES WITH CLOAKING COMPETITION HAND PADDLE

LIVERMORE, California, April 1. FINIS, a world leader in technical swimming products announces the addition of a completely Invisible Hand Paddle called the Cloak One. By creating a translucent paddle, it effectively prevents anyone (including pesky officials) from seeing the paddle on the hand while swimming.

As a result, the swimmer gains more traction and propulsion in the water during the power phase of the stroke. The invisible paddles are great for training, but ideal for meets where swimmers can have an “invisible” advantage over their competition.

The Invisible Paddle comes in one size to fit all levels of swimmers. Once purchased, nobody can afford to let them out of their sight.

“We tested them with small focused groups. They were so effective that even the swimmers could not see them when left on the pool deck. Many floated to the bottom of pool undetectable. That is why all paddles come with a pinging device, similar to airlines, for owners to locate,” said John Mix, President of FINIS, Inc.

“We also encountered problems in the retail market because consumers were calling us to complain that their boxes were empty. We also solved that problem by layering the new paddles with a soft orange removable latex coat allowing for visible usage, Mix added.

This is a revolution material for our sport, and it is free to all swimmers for a limited time. This new paddle has not yet been FINA approved nor disproved, mainly because FINA couldn’t see the paddles to test them. Simply put, they are invisible.

It is rumored that FINIS is in the early stages of testing the material on swimwear.

About FINIS:

Founded in 1993 in Northern California, FINIS was started by John Mix and Olympic Gold Medal Swimmer Pablo Morales. The Monofin and the Swimmer’s Snorkel were the first products they developed for the US market; afterwards, they continued to focus on creating training tools for swimmers and coaches worldwide. FINIS products are currently available in over 65 countries and are used by US and International Olympic teams, elite triathletes, and fitness swimmers.

Innovative research and design is FINIS’ highest priority. This dedication has resulted in truly unique products such as: the Swimmer’s Snorkel, which is recognized as the paramount tool to improve a swimmer’s technique, the Neptune MP3 that uses bone conduction technology to transmit music to the inner ear instead of using ear buds, and the Z2 Zoomers fins, which demonstrate an intimate understanding of swimming musculature, hydrodynamics, and engineering.
