Streamlined News: Missy Franklin a Sullivan Finalist; Stanford Wins College Synchro

PHOENIX, Arizona, March 26. MISSY Franklin will represent all aquatic sports at the annual banquet that will announce the name of the new Sullivan Award winner in April. The Amateur Athletic Union, the organization that names the Sullivan Award winners, announced Franklin as one of three finalists on Monday. Liz Brenner, who plays volleyball, basketball and softball at the University of Oregon, is a finalist, as is weightlifter Darren Barnes. The award ceremony will take place April 16 in Orlando, just a couple of days after Franklin wraps up competition at the Arena Grand Prix in Mesa, Arizona.

Stanford not only hosted the collegiate synchronized swimming championships last weekend, but they won the title over defending champion Ohio State quite convincingly. The Cardinal was greatly helped with five women on their squad who are part of the USA Synchro national team. You can watch on-demand video of the competition by going to takeitlive.com.

That's going to do it for today's Streamlined News. The rest of this week's shows will be brought to you from the deck at the IU Natatorium, the site of the men's NCAA Division I swimming and diving championships. I will be there covering the meet for Swimming World, just one part of our complete coverage of one of the most intense competitions in the world.
