Morning Swim Show: Mariya Chekanovych Relives History-Making NCAA Victories

PHOENIX, Arizona, March 15. HISTORY maker Mariya Chekanovych joins today's edition of The Morning Swim Show to talk about winning the first NCAA titles in any sport for Simon Fraser University.

Chekanovych won the 100 and 200 breaststrokes at the Division II championships with a knee injury and after recovering from two bouts of strep throat. She relives her experiences on the deck at the meet, where she and others from the Canadian school Simon Fraser turned heads in and out of the pool. The swims set her up for possibly a great long course season — provided she can heal the knee injury. She also discusses her Ukranian ancestry and why she will be proud to represent Canada in the future. Be sure to visit SwimmingWorld.TV for more video interviews.
