No. 3 Sonia Wang Commits to Harvard

UPLAND, California, July 12. SONIA Wang, the third-ranked recruit in the nation by CollegeSwimming.com, has elected to compete at Harvard University after her senior season in high school.

Wang, who trains with the Redlands Swim Team and preps at Upland High School in California, is also the top-ranked recruit out of the State of California.

Wang is a powerhouse with versatility across the board in short course yards. She owns a 53.77 in the 100-yard backstroke, and a 1:55.75 in the 200-yard fly. She also has some strong IM times with a 1:58.52 in the 200-yard event as well as a 4:10.83 in the 400-yard IM. She also can throw in a swift 53.03 in the 100-yard fly as part of her amazing repertoire.

Wang is also dangerous in long course meter competition. She has a 1:00.34 in the 100-meter fly and a 2:13.17 in the 200-meter fly to her credit. She also has a 2:17.31 in the 200-meter IM as part of her long course resume.

Wang is a legacy at Harvard as her older sister Oriana will be a senior at Harvard during Sonia’s freshman season.

Harvard has been making some serious noise on the recruiting trail the past few years as head coach Stephanie Wriede Morawski continues to put the Crimson at the top of the Ivy League rankings in terms of recruiting.
